What is Music Therapy and How Can It Help?
The term “Music Therapy” can be broad; however, this narrative should give more specific information about this form of music instruction and how it can help everyone. Music therapy is the use of music, in a clinical way, to improve a person’s overall quality of life. Much like other forms of therapy, music therapy is a tool one can use for a variety of reasons: PTSD, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and addiction. It is also a method we have applied to work with students that require additional cognitive and developmental tools such as autism and spectrum disorders, gross and fine motor skill therapy, stroke and brain injury and much more.
Little ones learn best in an environment that gives them full sensory experiences. In this group class, children will become immersed in a little bit of everything musical, from steady beat, basic rhythmic and tonal patterns to an introduction to piano, ukulele, and singing, to music history and basic theory, world music, pop music and more. This is a drop off class.
Whether your child is considering a part in a school production or is hoping to participate in community theatre, our Theatre Performance program was made for them! With multiple age and skill levels, your child will learn and develop practices and techniques useful to every performer.
We offer an intermediate class (ages 7-11) and an advanced class (ages 12-18) covering:
Executing effective auditions for musicals and dramas
Researching and demonstrating character development
Stage directions and movement
Developing good rehearsal habits
Proper vocal warmup techniques
Performing as an individual or in an ensemble
This is an ongoing program with open enrollment. We will need 15 days notice to stop payments for upcoming monthly classes.
