Does your child play an instrument? Have they ever wanted to play in a band with their peers? Consider our long-term Making the Band program.
This 5-month in-person program focuses on writing and performing original music. The months-long time scale allows students to develop greater camaraderie, and work more collaboratively.
- Music Theory – Students will learn the fundamentals of music theory, rhythm, chords, and harmony. These skills will help students develop a musical language to effectively communicate with other musicians.
- Music History – A variety of musical genres will be discussed such as blues, rock, country, jazz, pop, and more.
- Songwriting – Together, our teachers have a combined 40+ years of experience writing and performing music. They are eager to share their knowledge with students.
Goals for the program:
- Write an Original Song – Students will collaborate on a composition that will include an original melody and lyrics.
- Perform an Original Song – At the end of the program, students will lead a performance of their original song.
- Live Audio & Video Recording/Performance – Students will work with our staff and students in our Music Production Program, to produce a live, audio/video recording of their original song.
